WITH EASY CALIBRATION AND SYNCHRONIZATION

Kaman’s KD-2306, a non-contact linear displacement measuring instrument based on proven balanced bridge eddy current technology, is simple to use, makes high precision static and dynamic measurements, and supports ambient, moderate temperature, and cryogenic-rated sensors. Applications range from lab work to production and process automation. The RoHS-compliant, CE-marked system with DIN rail mount is ideal for integration into OEM equipment and industrial control applications.

Able to sense both ferrous and non-ferrous metal targets, the KD-2306 includes electronics, sensor, and interconnecting cable. Standard sensing ranges are from 0.02” to 2.4”, with 0.01%FS resolution or better, with non-linearity as little as 0.25%FS. Kaman offers over 30 sensors models including single and dual coil, shielded and unshielded designs. Terminal I/O connections connect 15-30VDC input power, optional 0-5VDC, 0-10VDC, +/-5VDC, 4-20 mA output, and synchronization cables for multiple channel operation. The system offers both coarse and fine calibration potentiometers, and external user synchronization.

Kaman-DAQ-JACK

KAMAN’S NEW DAQ-JACK™ REDUCES TEST SET-UP TIMES
WITH USB-ENABLED DATA ACQUISITION AND
DC POWER FOR ANALOG INSTRUMENTATION

Kaman Precision Products | Measuring announces the development and release of the DAQ-JACK™ KDAQ200+ data acquisition device that can power analog instrumentation through its USB-powered programmable bipolar DC output.

What puts the plus in the DAQ-JACK™ KDAQ200+ is the built-in programmable power supply. The unit takes power from the USB port on a PC or laptop and supplies the sensor or instrument with regulated DC power, eliminating the need for a separate DC power source.

Since virtually every sensor is influenced by temperature fluctuations, Kaman built in a type-K thermocouple jack. The thermocouple output is displayed on the strip chart, and the data logged with the analog inputs.

The DAQ-JACK software loads onto any PC, laptop, or notebook computer, so setup is simple. Included with each DAQ-JACK KDAQ200+ is the DAQ-JACK module, USB cable, I/O connector, and DAQ-JACK software.

Said Dan Spohn, Applications Engineer, of Kaman Precision Products: “In many test applications, it can take more time to collect, connect, and set up the sensors and DAQ system than it does to actually run the test. Kaman's design objective was to create a simple easy-to-use DAQ that would reduce set-up time.”

Kaman-KD-5100

KAMAN’S DIFFERENTIAL IMPEDANCE TRANSDUCERS
ARE SPECIFIED FOR ORBITAL PLATFORMS AND
LASER POINTING AND TRACKING APPLICATIONS

Kaman’s differential impedance measuring systems offer significant advancements in precision measurement technology, providing exceptional resolution, repeatability, and nulling accuracy for detecting the position of optics use in laser pointing and tracking applications. The model KD-5100 is manufactured to MIL-H-38534. MIL-SPEC components are utilized throughout the electronics module wherever possible. The KD-5100 features rugged construction with an MTBF of better than 55,000 hours in a tactical environment and 238,000 hours in a space flight environment. The small package size (2 x 2.12 x 0.75 inches thick) makes this system ideal for applications where space is a limiting factor.

In a historic test, the Relay Mirror Experiment used the nanometer resolution of the KD-5100 to prove the feasibility of reflecting a ground-based laser off of a 60 cm satellite mirror, then back to a 3mm target on Earth, a 450 km round trip. Other proven applications include night vision systems, precision telescope positioning, fast steering mirrors, and image stabilization systems

Both the 15N and the 20N sensors and the KD-5100 electronics are used in vacuum applications down to 10-6 Torr, and offer superior thermal and long-term stability of 5x10-6 inches/month or better. They also feature high sensitivity up to 10 V/mil (394 mV/mm), and low power consumption of less than 2W@ ±15 Vdc typical.

Kaman builds an alternate version of the 20N sensor specifically for cryogenic applications. This sensor has internal expansion joints and, when screw mounted using a Belleville washer, effectively eliminates stress or temperature induced mechanical distortions. Kaman has confirmed optimum performance in liquid nitrogen at 70° Kelvin. Several aerospace applications make effective use of this sensor in a liquid helium environment at 4°K.

In response to customer demand for a lower cost solution for fixed wing platforms, Kaman also offers the DIT-5200, a COTS version of the KD-5100. Using the same sensors as the KD-5100, the DIT-5200 provides the same proven rugged reliability typical of Kaman products.

For differential measurement in mirror optics applications, Kaman positions two precisely matched sensors per channel facing the backside of the mirror, equidistant from the pivot point. In this sensor-to-target relationship, as the mirror tilts and the target moves away from one sensor, it moves toward the other an equal amount. Output is differential and bipolar. The electronically matched sensors on opposing legs of the same bridge provide superior thermal stability.

Kaman-ThreadChecker

KAMAN’S UNIVERSAL THREADCHECKER™
CHECKS BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL THREADS
ON ALL CONDUCTIVE MATERIALS
AND OPERATES WITH ANY SIZE PROBE

Kaman’s Universal ThreadChecker is an application-specific sensor system designed to check for thread presence/absence. Designed as a "Go/No Go" tool, ThreadChecker discriminates between a threaded and an unthreaded hole or stud and provides both analog and switched outputs. It offers reliable and repeatable, high-speed thread detection for nearly all thread specifications, including both internal and external threads, and ferrous and non-ferrous materials, including aluminum.

ThreadChecker’s universal electronics can be used with any size sensor/probe without factory recalibration. Kaman offers six sensor models — 2mm, 4mm, 6mm and 10mm diameter probes for internal threads, and 6mm and 12mm diameter probes for external threads — giving ThreadChecker the ability to inspect holes sizes from M3 through M14, and stud sizes M4 through M10.

ThreadChecker sensors and the electronics package are designed to be rugged and reliable, meeting IP-67 specifications, and are ideal for machine shop, in-die, or other industrial environments. There is no need to clean and dry the part being checked, as ThreadChecker’s inductive sensors are unaffected by moisture, oils, cleaners, grease, dirt, and grime.

The Universal ThreadChecker offers superior performance with both ferrous and nonferrous materials. Fixed-gain analog output and opto-isolated NPN switching output make this system perfect for set-it-and-forget-it applications including automated assembly and test and inspection.

Setup is a simple matter of "teaching" ThreadChecker to recognize a threaded hole or stud vs. an unthreaded one. The user inserts the sensor into a threaded hole or over a threaded stud, and presses the "teach" button. He then inserts the same sensor into an unthreaded hole or over an unthreaded stud, and presses the "teach" button again. A switched output and system LED will then indicate if a hole or stud is threaded or unthreaded.

ThreadChecker is in stock and available immediately from Kaman.
